Install Aetherium

Download, install and open Aetherium on Windows, macOS or Linux.

Download

  1. Go to the Aetherium home page and press Download Aetherium. The site picks the right file for your computer (Windows, macOS or Linux, and Intel/AMD or ARM).
  2. Need a different file? Use Download for another platform, or pick any version on the Versions page.

Windows

There are two kinds of download:

FileUse it when
Installer (.exe)You want Aetherium installed for your Windows account, with a Start menu shortcut. No administrator rights are needed.
Portable (.zip)You want to run it without installing, for example from a USB stick. Unzip it and open Aetherium.exe.
  1. Open the downloaded aetherium-…-setup.exe.
  2. If Windows shows Windows protected your PC, press More info and then Run anyway. This appears for new apps that Windows has not seen many times yet.
  3. Setup installs Aetherium and opens it. Next time, start it from the Start menu.

macOS

  1. Open the downloaded .zip. It unpacks Aetherium.app.
  2. Drag Aetherium.app into your Applications folder.
  3. The first time, right-click (or Control-click) the app and choose Open, then Open again in the dialog. After that it opens normally.

Linux

  • Debian / Ubuntu: sudo apt install ./aetherium-…-amd64.deb
  • Fedora / openSUSE: sudo dnf install ./aetherium-….rpm
  • AppImage: chmod +x Aetherium-….AppImage, then run it.

Check that a download is genuine

Every file on the Versions page lists its SHA-256 fingerprint. Compare it with the file you downloaded:

  • Windows (PowerShell): Get-FileHash .\aetherium-1.35.7-setup.exe
  • macOS / Linux: shasum -a 256 aetherium-1.35.7.zip
Careful
If the two fingerprints differ, delete the file and download it again from this site only.

Uninstall

  • Windows: Settings › Apps › Installed apps › Aetherium › Uninstall.
  • macOS: drag Aetherium from Applications to the Trash.
  • Linux: sudo apt remove aetherium (or your package manager).
Good to know
Uninstalling keeps your profile (history, bookmarks, settings) on the computer, so a later install picks up where you left off.
